Press Play Con 2026: Cosplay Competition Entry Details

     We are so excited to see the creativity, craftsmanship, and passion Guam’s cosplayers will bring to the stage for Press Play Con 2026! To help us elevate the competition and give our participants the platform they deserve, please review the registration guidelines and entry details below.

 

Competition Registration & Deadlines

  • Entry Fee: $35.00 per participant/entry

  • Submission Deadline: October 10, 2026

  • Where to Submit: Please fill out the form on the right and submit all media files before submitting the form.

 

⚠️ Important Note: All application forms and media files must be submitted by the October 10 deadline. Late media submissions will not be accepted to ensure itinerary flow, as well for our tech team to have sufficient time to stage and test all audio/visual setups for rehearsal. Casual cosplayers can apply and submit until the day of the event.

  • High-Quality Event Exposure: Participants get dedicated stage time in front of our main crowd, professional stage photo coverage, and social media spotlight features to help build your portfolio and brand as a cosplayer.

Prop Safety Guidelines
 

For the safety, comfort, and enjoyment of everyone attending our event.

1. General Costume Rules

  • Costumes must be convention-appropriate and family-friendly. (No excessive gore, nudity, or offensive symbols.)

  • Shoes are required at all times inside the venue.

  • Costumes should not restrict mobility or vision to the point of being unsafe.

2. Prop & Weapon Guidelines

Props are allowed, but must meet the following safety requirements:

✅ Allowed:

  • Foam, cardboard, plastic, and lightweight wood props.

  • 3D-printed or resin props with no sharp edges.

  • Bows, staffs, or spears that are lightweight and with blunted ends.

  • Guns or futuristic weapons must have brightly colored tips (orange/yellow).

❌ Not Allowed:

  • Functional firearms, live ammunition, or realistic replica guns.

  • Metal swords, sharp blades, or heavy blunt weapons.

  • Pyrotechnics, fireworks, or open flames.

  • Projectiles of any kind (no firing arrows, BBs, nerf darts, etc.).

  • Overly large props that could block walkways or doors.

3. Prop Size & Handling

  • Maximum prop length: 6 feet (unless approved in advance).

  • Props must be easy to carry without dragging or hitting others.

  • Props must remain holstered, sheathed, or lowered when moving through crowded areas.

4. Behavior & Use

  • Props are for display only—no swinging, sparring, or mock fighting.

  • Always ask permission before posing with another person’s prop.

  • Staff or security may peace-bond (tag/check) your prop for safety.

5. Staff Authority

  • Press Play! staff reserve the right to inspect any costume or prop.

  • If a costume or prop is deemed unsafe, you may be asked to store or remove it.

  • Non-compliance may result in removal from the event for safety reasons.

6. Respect & Community Spirit

  • Cosplay is not consent—always ask before taking photos or touching costumes.

  • Be mindful of large wings, armor, or props in tight spaces.

  • Keep hallways and exits clear at all times.

⚠️ Final Note: These guidelines are for everyone’s safety and enjoyment. We encourage creativity but safety comes first!

PHOTO & VIDEO RELEASE

I hereby grant MAD Studio Productions, Three Blind Mice Productions, and Press Play Con, including their authorized representatives, photographers, videographers, media partners, and event staff, permission to photograph, record, livestream, and/or otherwise capture my image, likeness, voice, cosplay, and participation during Press Play Con 2026.

I understand and agree that these photographs, videos, recordings, and other media may be used for:

  • Press Play Con promotional materials

  • Social media posts and advertisements

  • Event recap videos and highlight reels

  • Livestreams and recorded broadcasts

  • Websites and online platforms

  • Posters, flyers, brochures, and other promotional materials

  • News and media coverage of the event

  • Future promotion of Press Play Con and related events

  • Educational, community, or nonprofit promotional purposes related to the event and its initiatives

I understand that these materials may be edited, reproduced, published, distributed, displayed, or shared in digital or printed formats without additional notice or compensation to me.

COSPLAY & CHARACTER REPRESENTATION

I understand that my cosplay, costume, performance, pose, or participation may appear in photographs or video captured during the event.

I represent that I am participating voluntarily and understand that Press Play Con does not claim ownership of my original cosplay design, artwork, or character creation.

COMPENSATION

I understand that I will not receive payment, royalties, or other compensation for the use of my image, likeness, voice, cosplay, or event participation under this release.

VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION

I understand that photography and video recording may take place throughout Press Play Con. I may notify event staff if I have concerns about a particular photograph or recording.

However, I understand that because Press Play Con is a public event, I may appear incidentally in photographs, videos, livestreams, or crowd footage even if I am not specifically posed for the camera.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

To the extent permitted by law, I release and hold harmless MAD Studio Productions, Three Blind Mice Productions, Press Play Con, their organizers, staff, volunteers, photographers, videographers, sponsors, and authorized media partners from claims arising solely from the authorized use of my photograph, video, likeness, or voice under this release.

I understand that this release does not waive rights that cannot legally be waived.
