Anime and gaming have made an impact on community leisure, bringing people together across generations since the early 80s! It transcends boundaries of skin, culture, gender, and religion, reminding us that in a world often clouded by negativity, what truly matters is the joy of shared interests and human connection. The “Press Play!” convention kicked off in Guam on April 7, 2018, initially sponsored by John F. Kennedy High School to raise funds for their anime and gaming club. With four weeks of preparation, the excitement was contagious, attracting multiple co-sponsors eager to join in on the fun! Proudly backed by “Geek Out!,” “Radical PC,” “Project Matrix and “The Forge,” along with fantastic partners like "Bubbly Tea" Cafe and "Tango Theaters," this event was a thrilling celebration for anime and gaming lovers!

Today, this convention is held by MAD Studio Productions in collaboration with UP Media. It aims to showcase and support companies and organizations involved in this amazing entertainment realm, while providing a fantastic venue for everyone to unwind and enjoy their favorite pastimes. Businesses can jump on board by becoming sponsors, offering opportunities for monetary or prize/service donations. Sponsors will have the opportunity to engage with the anime and gaming community at the event and secure a booth to showcase their products.

Get ready for an exciting convention packed with fun and creativity! Join us for an epic cosplay costume contest, a thrilling live art competition, and stunning anime and gaming art displays. Dive into our interactive photo op zone, indulge in fantastic food and items at discounted prices, and participate in hourly gaming and trivia games! Come dressed as your favorite anime or gaming character, but remember to keep it tasteful for our all-ages crowd. We want everyone to enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere, celebrating our shared love for anime and gaming! But wait, there’s even more! Casual gamers can enjoy gaming sessions and tournaments. Participate in table card games or “Dungeons and Dragons!” Join our table sessions for an hour of fun! So, are you ready? “PRESS PLAY!” and let the games begin!

Where Anime and Gaming Begins

NOTE: Individuals who wish to participate in the cosplay event must complete the registration form and pay a fee of $25.00. This fee is required to confirm your commitment to the event. Participants will also enjoy benefits such as an introductory video shoot and more.

Extreme Gaming (XG)
Tournament

Press Play! Con will host a gaming tournament set up for serious gamers. It is called the XG (Extreme Gaming) Tournament. The tournaments will vary from console fighting games to shooters and racing.

We will also be collaborating with UP Media to host MOBA tournaments for the event.

Last year, we held "Super Smash Bros," "Dragonball FighterZ," and "Tekken 7." We hope to expand our gaming library for this upcoming event.

The main event of Press Play! Con is the cosplay contest. It has three categories: family, couple, and single, hosted by Ed Suarez. The convention hopes to attract international asian cosplayers as well. Cosplayers will do a 2-minute catwalk portraying their character and then do 3 minutes of talent showcasing (whether acting, singing, dancing, or any other talent to correspond to their character), with a total of 5 minutes.
